1. Volunteering & Learning Programs

Option 1: Teaching English or other subject(s) to disadvantaged children in Shanghai

  • One-off project (one day)
  • Training & support provided by Stepping Stones
  • Lecture on non-profit sector and migrants in China delivered by Stepping Stones, if required
  • Activity: Small group teaching (2-4 volunteers grouped together to teach 4-12 students)
  • Location: Migrant school, community center or migrant kindergarten in Shanghai
  • Time: Possible to organize project on a working day or on a weekend
  • Project cost: Minimum fee of RMB10,000 (the fee is subject to change according to the number of participants and specific requirements)

Option 2: Taking disadvantaged children on an outing or learning trip in Shanghai

  • One-off project (one day)
  • Training & support provided by Stepping Stones
  • Lecture on non-profit sector and migrants in China delivered by Stepping Stones, if required
  • Activity: Each participant accompany one or two children during the outing
  • Location: Museum, zoo, aquarium, your company’s office, etc.
  • Time: Possible to organize project on a working day or on a weekend
  • Project cost: Minimum fee of RMB10,000 + children’s transportation and entry tickets, if needed

Option 3: Summer Camps – Teaching English or other subject(s) to disadvantaged children in Shanghai

  • One-off project (one day) or on a regular basis (i.e., once a week or every other week)
  • Training & support provided by Stepping Stones
  • Lecture on non-profit sector and migrants in China delivered by Stepping Stones, if required
  • Activity: Small group teaching (2-4 volunteers grouped together to teach 4-10 students)
  • Location: Community center in Shanghai
  • Time: July or August
  • Project cost: RMB10,000 for an one-off project and TBD for a regular program

2. Learning Program

Attending a lecture on Nonprofit Management, Migration Issues and Education for Migrants in China

  • Activity: Lecture delivered by one of Stepping Stones’ senior staff, which include Corinne Hua (Executive Director), Ross Pitcairn (Training Director), Dr. Sebastien Carrier (Program Director) and Wang Cui (Fundraising Manager)
  • Stepping Stones can provide lectures on a variety of topics to student groups
  • Location: TBD
  • Time: Working day preferred, weekend may also be possible
  • Project fee: RMB3,000

  5. Are you able to provide a venue for activities with disadvantaged children?

*Please note that Stepping Stones is a non-profit charitable organization and that we invite corporate and student groups to make a significant donation to help us setting up a volunteering program for them, and to help sustain our organization and fulfill our mission to improve the education and general welfare of disadvantaged children in China. Over the years, we have developed many successful partnerships with companies, schools and universities. Donation can take different forms: annual grant, volunteer grant (in recognition of volunteer work being done), project-based donation or pro-bono.
